Blog #4: Get to the Root so the Problem Doesn't Grow Back

Fix the problem at the source. ⬇

You wouldn’t bring your car to the mechanic just to turn off the check engine light. The light itself is not the problem. It’s the result of a greater issue. Though it may be tempting to reset it and move along, doing so sacrifices the opportunity to fix the issue before it causes more problems.

The same applies to our lives. So often we attempt to resolve a problem without considering its origin. We get distracted by the manifestation of the issue instead of examining its root cause. This ensures that the problem is able to respawn in the future. When it does, it’s new form is mistaken for a novel experience and we start the process all over again.

We can stop this process through insight and willingness to drill down and categorize the underlying issue. In doing so we may be surprised to find that we’ve experienced that theme in our lives before. This allows us to fix the problem at its source and start heading toward meaningful change.
